Welcome to Art in the Park 2011, “White Mountain Artists, Yesterday and Today”

The Art in the Park committee of the Mt. Washington Valley Arts Association is proud announce some new ideas for this summer’s expanded Art in the Park.  This exciting event will pay homage to the rich artistic heritage of the White Mountains while exhibiting the excellence of today’s local and regional artists.  A simultaneous attraction will be the exhibition and sale of paintings from private collections of yesterday’s White Mountain art work dating back to the 1850’s.  In order to broaden our audience and increase both visitor and artist attendance, here are some added benefits!

The Mt. Washington Valley Arts Association will rent two white commercial tents. The size is 140’x40’. Each tent will hold 28 artists, and they will not have to bring their own tent. Reserved space in the big tents will be on a first come first serve basis. For those who wish to bring their own tent, a designated space will be provided.

Included in the event will be a display and sale of historic White Mountain Art from private collections.

In addition to original paintings, prints, photography, pottery and sculpture on display and for sale, “Creative Healing Arts” activities including art, music, dance, poetry and education about the impact of the creative arts on healing and well-being, sponsored by Evergreen Institute for Wellness, are scheduled to take place throughout the day.

There will be a children’s tent, jam-packed with kid-oriented art activities designed to appeal to art appreciating families in North Conway that day. While Moms and Dads are wandering leisurely through the show, their children can be engaged in creating their own “art”.

There will be a raffle.  We’ll be selling raffle tickets in advance of the show in order to create awareness, as well as on the day of the event.

Art in the Park 2011 will be a one-day-only show, rain or shine.

As usual, you have the option to bring your own tent.

Space for food vendors will be available.

Cash prizes will be awarded in the categories of Photography, 2D and 3D Art.  There will also be a Best of Show Award as well as Honorable Mention Ribbons.

“Purchase Prizes” will be sold in advance.

We hope you’re excited about our improvements and additions. See you on July 23rd!
