NEW EVENT! “FRESH PAINT: Historic Views, New Perspectives”
The Mt. Washington Valley Arts Association is pleased to announce a new event for summer 2008 – “Fresh Paint: Historic Views, New Perspectives.” Drawing on the “wet paint” event tradition, artists and photographers are invited to create new works of art that capture the views and scenery of the Mount Washington Valley region that the White Mountain School of Art members painted during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Between July 18 and August 16, registered artists will have the time to create up to two pieces of artwork that will be submitted to the MWVAA for an art auction event that will be the MWVAA’s major fundraising event for the year. August 9 is the “plein air” date during which participating artists are asked to set up their easels and provide an opportunity for the community and visitors alike to watch the artistic process at work. The culminating auction event will take place in the Eating House of Cranmore resort in North Conway from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, August 16, and will also feature live music, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar and an opportunity to mix and mingle with the artists. Admission to the event is $25 per person. All proceeds will support the MWVAA in its mission to promote the study, display and appreciation of the visual arts, particularly of the Mount Washington Valley.
