Washington Valley’s June Art Show featureing local artist Cindy Spencer.  The show is primarily traditional watercolors, but also includes some recent experiments with watercolors on different surfaces and some acrylics.

This June exhibit will be displayed from June 1st through the 23rd.  Stop by the Artists Opening Reception on Friday evening, June 1st from 5:30 -7:00pm.

Art in the Park will be held on Saturday, July 21st, at Schouler Park in North Conway, NH, from 10 am to 6 pm!  This is a Mt. Washington Valley Arts Association juried member artist show of 2- and 3-dimensional fine art and crafts.  Prizes will be awarded for a variety of categories.  Early registration deadline is March 31st; final deadline to register is June 16th.  Please join us!

PRESS RELEASE:

The Mount Washington Valley Arts Association (MWVAA) is issuing a call for artists and vendors to participate in our expanded 36th annual Art in the Park to be held Saturday, July 21st in Schouler Park in North Conway NH. This exciting event will pay homage to the rich artistic heritage of the White Mountains while exhibiting the excellence of today’s local and regional artists and craftsmen.  The event will be rain or shine from 10AM to 6PM and will feature two large tents to house the artists, craftsmen and historic art vendors. There will also be food vendors, a children’s tent with kids’ activities provided by the Mt. Washington Valley Children’s Museum and spaces for artists who wish to set up their own tents for their displays. This is a fine arts and crafts show open to juried artists and craftsmen working in a variety of mediums and styles including fine art, photography, glass, ceramics, sculpture and fine crafts. There will be cash prizes and ribbons, purchase prizes, music, food and raffle items.

The cost of a 10′ x10″ space inside the big tent is $125. and outside of the big tent for those who bring their own is $110., if registering before April 1st.   For those registering after April 1st the cost is $150. inside the big tent and $135. for those who bring their own tent. All applications must be postmarked no later than June 18th. Food vendors will need to set up outside the big tent. Spaces will be assigned in order of receipt of paid applications and are first come first served. All artists, craftsmen, historic art vendors and food vendors must submit a paid application to reserve a spot. Application forms for Art in the Park and for jurying can be downloaded from the MWVAA website at www.mwvarts.org or can be obtained from the MWVAA Visual Arts Center downstairs at Norcross Place in North Conway during regular hours Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 3PM and on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2PM.

Artists and craftsmen who have not exhibited work since 2009 in a MWVAA show or exhibit will need to participate in the jury process. Artists who wish to be juried for this premier event and/or to be a MWVAA juried artist need to submit a jury application with 3-5 samples of their work. There is a $20 jury fee for non-members but no charge for members. The next jury session is March 19th with an application deadline of March 15th. There will an additional jury session on May 21st with an application deadline of May 17th. Our Friday Painters

 

Friday Painters                        Fridays, 9am – 12:30pm

Join other artists every Friday for open studio sessions mid-October through mid-May, and for plein air sessions from mid-May through mid-October.  Short critique to close the session.

photoMWVAA Presents Two Local Photographers “Á LA CANVAS”

Two local photographers, Dick Pollock and Kathy Bergeron, are conducting a joint exhibition of their work during the month of March at the Mt. Washington Valley Arts Association’s Visual Arts Center at 16 Norcross Place in North Conway Village. Both artists have recently begun to produce much of their work on canvas. The emphasis of this show is to demonstrate the wonderful detail, vibrancy and texture that is possible with this medium.

Kathy is known for her hummingbird photography as well as flowers and the unique look of her Monet technique. She will also have prints and note cards of her signature work on sale. Along with husband Ed, Kathy has given workshops for local organizations including Tin Mountain Conservation Center and has exhibited her work in several publications.

Dick is known for his scenic and wildlife photography, although he says he has a few surprises for this show. His Mount Washington Valley Photo Book and annual retail calendars are familiar to local residents and available in local gift shops.

Both are residents of North Conway and are active members of the North Country Camera Club where they are regularly among the top scorers in the monthly competitions. Kathy’s work can be seen at her Camera Club Gallery and Dick’s at MoatPhoto.com

The public is invited to come to the opening reception where you can meet the artists on Friday, March 2nd, from 5:30 to 7:00pm. Light refreshments will be served. The exhibit will run from March 2nd until March 24th.

Gallery hours are 9am-3pm Monday through Friday and Saturdays 10am-2pm and its located at 16 Norcross Place, North Conway, NH.

Life Drawing Announcement

Our Life Drawing class will be discontinued after the March 26th session.  We’re sorry to see this program end but participation has been low this year and summers have traditionally been very slow.  There are no plans to resume the sessions in the fall at this time so if you have a punch card with sessions remaining, you should use it at the last session or we can apply the balance of the punch card to another class.  Thank you all for supporting this program in the past and please try to make the last session.
