Drawing Class Offered

The Mt. Washington Valley Arts Association is pleased to offer a drawing class titled “Basic Drawing for Beginners” with Nancy Hall at the Main Street Art Gallery on Tuesday, October 24th from 10am to 2:30pm.

Hall is an experienced art educator who has a lifetime of art experience both producing art and sharing her knowledge with others. The class is designed for individuals who would like to learn how to draw or are curious about ways to improve their drawing skills.

The class will cover a variety of basic drawing tools (different leads and pencils, charcoal, erasers, measuring tools, paper weights and surfaces and fixatives) and how to use them. Students will practice some different ways to sketch a drawing on paper, experiment with layout and sizing, and draw items together to make a good composition. Positive and negative shapes will be explored as well as light, shadows, balance and textures in drawing. Students will practice these basic principles and draw a simple still life. The class is designed to be a fun, hands-on class.

Students will only need to bring a sketchbook and lunch. The cost for the workshop is $50, payable in advance.  To register, email us at info@mwvarts.org.
